The Shops at Harper's Point
This is a techniques and skills class devoted to further develop your skill level with knives. No recipes or cooking will be demonstrated.
Knowing how to use a good, sharp chef’s knife is one of the most important and useful skills you can have in the kitchen. This hands-on class is designed to improve your everyday knife skills so you can become faster and more efficient in the kitchen. We’ll also learn about a variety of blade shapes, practice honing and gain an introduction to sharpening.
You may know Bob Hess as our resident knife expert who does our knife sharpening as well as being a member of our Harper’s Point staff. Bob brings still more to this class. He honed his skills at the Midwest Culinary Academy and he regularly teaches Shun knife skills seminars at stores throughout the area.
Bob will discuss some important points about the selection, use and care of cutlery. He will demonstrate how to achieve various cuts and then assist you in perfecting your techniques. The students will be practicing knife techniques with the guidance and advice of the Cooks’Wares staff.
