CONNIE MEISINGER is the owner of House on the Hill, Inc., a company that provides working replicas of historic cookie molds and newly designed and hand carved cookie mold designs. After she started collecting the molds as a baker of Springerle cookies, Connie became interested in their history and art as much as their function. After collecting these molds for ten years, she was presented an opportunity to purchase House on the Hill in 2002.
Connie’s grandmother, Nini, provided her family with holiday tins of anise flavored Springerle cookies, and her mother used the same recipe in her catering business. Connie won a holiday cookie contest sponsored by the Chicago Tribune with Nini’s recipe. As a result, she met the then-owner of House on the Hill, and became such an ardent collector of their molds that she bought the company in 2002. Since then, Connie has expanded the assortment to over 500 designs. She continues to find and develop molded cookie recipes. House on the Hill’s molds have been featured in Martha Stewart Living, Victoria, and other baking and crafting publications.
Connie appeared on the Martha Stewart Show in December 2011.
She lives in the Chicago area, and operates House on the Hill in
Elmhust, IL, and teaches Springerle baking across the country.
